Dear Nobel Laureates,

Thank you so much for your swift and positive replies in signing on to the Letter to World Leaders urging cooperation at the Biden Climate Summit to stop fossil fuel expansion and support a global just transition. 101 of you signed.

You have already inspired and galvanized people's movements, leaders and media alike as people learn of what is coming on April 21. Here is an update on the letter and the release and an invitation to participate in sharing it if you wish to.  The letter will be sent to world leaders, and partners in many countries will send to their contacts, April 20. CNN is preparing an exclusive and BBC, Financial Times etc have it and are preparing coverage, requesting interviews.

If any of you are interested / available to speak to media, please let Liz Bernstein know soonest: liz.bernstein@gmail.com, +1 613 262 1969 (EST)

The Nobel Laureate letter is embargoed until Wednesday, April 21, 08:00 EST/ 13:00 GMT/ 14:00 BST / 15:00 CEST/ 23:00 AEST.

We welcome all signatories to further promote the letter, it’s core messages and your endorsement if you are so inclined. If your contribution was signing and that is enough, that is great too, but if any of you also wish to promote the letter, in case needed, a sample press release and social media content are included that can be tailored, and we've included sample tweets etc. Many organizations are promoting the letter, but one key partner, Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty campaign is doing most of the media outreach. they understand your endorsement of this letter does not indicate endorsement of their campaign.

The letter is now available at www.fossilfueltreaty.org/nobel-letter with the password: a-just-transition, French here and Spanish here with the same password: a-just-transition.

Fossil fuels are the greatest contributor to climate change. Allowing the continued expansion of the industry is unconscionable. That’s why I joined 100 other Nobel Laureates in signing this letter fossilfueltreaty.org/nobel-laureates-letter

I am one of 101 Nobel Laureates who have just written to the 40 world leaders gathering this week’s Leaders Climate Summit.

Climate change is threatening hundreds of millions of lives and livelihoods across every continent and is putting thousands of species at risk.

Our message is clear: “keep fossil fuels in the ground”
